What To Expect When You Attend An Appointment...

At your first appointment your physiotherapist will take a comprehensive history of your problem followed by a thorough physical examination of the area/s affected, after you have given your consent. Following this, the diagnosis or source of the problem will be explained and an individual treatment programme outlined which meets your specific needs. The aim of a customised rehabilitation programme is to achieve the maximum potential recovery and a return to normal daily living activities. Exercise is usually necessary as part of the rehabilitation process. Remember you always have the right to decline any part or the whole of the treatment offered. Your progress and response to treatment will be closely monitored and any changes to the treatment will be discussed.

Initial appointments are 45-60 minutes
Follow up appointments are 30 minutes

Depending on the injury site, your physiotherapist will need you to undress in order to see the area fully to carry out a thorough examination. This may also include examining the joint above and below the area. For this reason please attend the appointment wearing suitable clothing and be prepared for this. It is best to wear well fitting underwear, or to bring a pair of shorts.

In order for the therapist to assess and treat your condition, it is likely that they will need to have close contact with you. It is essential that you discuss any issues with the therapist if you are uncomfortable with the assessment or treatment. We operate in a professional manner and will always respect your wishes - you are welcome to be accompanied by a family member or friend to act as a chaperone. If the appointment is for a child under 16 a parent or guardian must accompany them.

Please bring a list of any prescribed medication you are taking.

Referral

You may be referred to the Clinic for assessment and treatment by your General Practitioner or Specialist, or you may refer yourself if you wish. We maintain close contact with your doctor and provide them with a discharge summary at the end of each course of treatment. You may request a copy of this report.

Payment

We are registered with all major private medical insurance companies (e.g. BUPA, AXA PPP, Standard Life, Aviva, Medisure, Prudential, WPA, Cigna, BCWA, Exeter Friendly, Clinicare, First Assist, CMS, Forester Health, Benenden, HSA), but our services are available to both insured and uninsured clients. If you are covered by medical insurance, your insurer may require a GP referral - please check with them. We also ask you to check the terms of your cover as we cannot be responsible for non-payment of accounts. It is necessary that you provide us with a claim number before commencing treatment should you wish us to claim directly from your insurance company. Medical insurance companies usually pay us direct monthly. If you are self-funding, you can pay for your treatment by cash, cheque, debit or credit card.

Cancellation Policy

We operate a 24-hour cancellation policy. Please give us 24 hours’ notice when cancelling or re-arranging your appointment time. This will allow us time to offer your appointment space to another patient. Late cancellations and changes are subject to a charge. Non-attendance without prior notice will incur a full charge.
